Letang on Norris
Kris Letang of the Penguins got an exceptional start to the season, and was a fixture in discussions about the Norris Trophy as the All-Star break approached.
His game slipped out of sync as the season progressed, however, and Letang was not selected as one of the three finalists for the Norris.
That distinction went to Detroit’s Nicklas Lidstrom, Zdeno Chara of Boston and Nashville’s Shea Weber.
For what it’s worth, Letang didn’t argue with the thinking of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association members who voted for the award.
“I’ve learned a lot this year and I think I improved my game a lot, but I didn’t finish the way I wanted,” he said. “I’m looking forward to trying to win one (in the future), but right now, I’m not worried about that.”
