Kris Letang out for a few weeks with lower-body injury

The Penguins announced today that Kris will miss a few weeks of play due to a lower-body injury. We’re all sending Kris well wishes as he recovers! Can’t wait to see #58 back in action for the Penguins.

Details from the Pens:

Both Carl Hagelin and Kris Letang were absent from team practice on Thursday at PPG Paints Arena. And while head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed it was a maintenance day for the winger, he said that the defenseman will be out a little longer.

“Kris Letang has a lower-body injury and will be out for a couple of weeks,” Sullivan said.

Letang obviously isn’t easy to replace. He skates in all situations – including on a power play that has seven goals in the last three games – and ranks seventh in the NHL in time on ice with an average of 26:04 minutes per game. As Sullivan said, it will have to be by committee.
