Kris Letang injured during Coyotes game – Latest Updates and Game Wrap

Hi Kris Letang fans, I dislike posting injury updates greatly but I have to post them to keep you updated on his condition. This update will include only information released by the Pittsburgh Penguins. The latest is that Kris was taken to the hospital to be evaluated and will stay over night for observations.

I know that all the fans including myself and my family will keep Kris in our thoughts and that the injury is not serious.

“It’s awful,” Doan said. “When it happened, I could tell right away he went into the boards awkwardly. He’s so good, you can’t let him jump by you. I wanted to get a piece of him so he couldn’t jump by me. We have to finish our checks on him. I didn’t mean to hit him like that. 1. I thought we handled the adversity of (David) Perron not playing due to illness. Losing (Kris) Letang was a big blow to us. I thought we were resilient, and came back and did what we had to do.

2. Letang Knocked Out
The Pens were already short a man with Comeau out of the game. Then they lost defenseman Kris Letang late in the second period. Letang had just released the puck in his own zone when Coyotes forward Shane Doan shoved him. Letang flew into the air and crashed hard into the boards. He stayed down on the ice for a while and needed the help of teammates to leave the ice. Steve Downie challenged Doan to a fight a few minutes later and Doan, following “The Code,” obliged. It was good to see Downie stick up for his teammate. And Doan, a veteran, also understood he needed to drop the gloves.

“(Letang) did go to the hospital to be checked out,” head coach Mike Johnston said. “We’ll get an evaluation as to where everybody thinks he’s at in the morning.” Source
